Privacy Policy

MyNeighbourBasket ("we", "us") is a hyperlocal grocery marketplace that connects customers with neighbourhood shops in their residential society, available as an Android app and at myneighbourbasket.web.app. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to both customer and shopkeeper accounts.
Information we collect

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or files, and we do not show third-party advertising or use advertising trackers.
How your information is shared
- Between you and the shop: when you place an order, the shopkeeper sees your name, phone number and delivery address so they can fulfil and deliver it. Shopkeepers' shop name, address and phone are visible to customers.
- Service providers: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, file storage, hosting, push notifications) and Razorpay (payment processing). They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
- No selling: we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the platform and its users.
How long we keep it
- Your profile and subscriptions exist until you delete your account.
- Order and review records are retained even after account deletion — shops need them for their accounts, settlements and legal/tax compliance.
- Your on-device address book never leaves your device and is cleared when you sign out.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app or web app, or by following the steps on our account deletion page. Deletion removes your profile and sign-in account and cancels your subscriptions; order and review history is retained as described above.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to data is restricted by server-side security rules — customers can only read their own orders and subscriptions, shopkeepers only their shop's, and sensitive operations (payment verification, commission, account deletion) run only on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that the app cannot be used to read other people's data.
Children
MyNeighbourBasket is intended for adults who can enter into purchase transactions. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
